What is EuroPsy?
EuroPsy is the abbreviation for the EFPA trademarked title of Registered European psychologist, and represents a European benchmark standard of psychology knowledge and skills.
It does not confer a licence to practise but can help to facilitate the mobility of qualified professionals across Europe.
What does EuroPsy Offer Me?
In gaining the award you will receive certification from EFPA as well as being entered on to the EuroPsy Register.
Why EuroPsy Specialisation?
The aim of a specialist certificate (certificate of specialist expertise) is to specify requirements for independent practice in a domain of psychology at an advanced level of education, training and practice beyond that required for entry into the profession.
The EuroPsy Certificate entitles the holder to practise as a newly qualified psychologist. After a number of years of practice as a psychologist, it is possible to apply for a Specialist EuroPsy Certificate.
The Specialist certificate is available for those psychologists who have already qualified for the basic EuroPsy certificate and have undertaken further education, training and specialisation in their field of practice.This is an advanced qualification that builds on the basic education and training for a psychologist.The generic requirements for a EuroPsy Specialised Certificate are:
An applicant has to meet the requirements of the basic EuroPsy plus:
- At least 90 ECTS of study credits of advanced study or training
- At least three years of postgraduate practice (post eligibility for EuroPsy Certificate) of which at least 500 hours is supervised practice
- At least 150 hours of supervision (i.e. on average 50 hrs a year)
- Submission of a log book to evidence the specialism
